This project really tested my experience with design for manufacturability! Think 6 different sizes of squares, 2 powder coat colors, plus partial assembly in the field. Each SolidWorks assembly is a single welded unit in a single color. We also adjusted the client's design to limit the positioning of mechanical fasteners along the tubes. This way we would only have a 2-3 different types of tubes of the same size that were all visually distinguishable from one another. Needless to say, I wrote very detailed, step-by-step instructions for the installers of this project.
